Learning dance at Nruthya Shakti Dance Academy is an exhilarating experience. All students start with basic footwork, postures, mudras, and theory from Naatya Shaastra regarding various folk dances. NSDA students will also have the opportunity to learn specialized folk, semi-classical, or contemporary dances from dance experts through NSDA workshops.
While learning about the history of multiple states, cultures, and folk art, students also work on their flexibility, stamina, and performance skills. Intermediate and advanced students learn complicated footwork and intricate choreographies that constantly challenge them to improve!
NSDA Elite are principal dancers, performers, and students who have displayed distinctive talent and skill levels in class and in performances presented. These students have either gained training with NSDA over the years or acquired training from other teachers and wish to pursue it under NSDA tutorship.
The Elite has three levels: Junior, Inter, and Senior, and students are placed according to their skill levels and excellence. Elite students are encouraged to work towards distinction in the theory exams conducted by NSDA faculty and the visiting faculty under the banner of Kothambalam Dance Academy, Kerala, and Smt. Vasantha Aravindan. These students exhibit their knowledge and experience in the highest order and expectations.
Elite students participate in shows hosted by NSDA and other NSDA collaborators. Contributing to community and outreach projects undertaken by NSDA plays a vital role in a student's development. Students are expected to host/collaborate with charity organizations working with them to help raise funds and awareness about community service while extending support by using dances learned in NSDA as their resource. Volunteering for a minimum of 45 hours towards the charity help students gain experience in managing and collaborating efforts, funds, and team members while gaining leadership and organizational skills.
